Writing Task 2. What scores will I get with this essay ?

These days, in many countries, fewer and fewer people want to become teachers, particularly in secondary schools. What are the reasons for this, and how could the problem be solved?

In recent decades, there has been the steady decline in the number of people willing to become teachers, especially in secondary schools in many parts of the world. Given that this trend leads to a whole host of issues for education, identifying the reasons behind it is key to finding the solutions.

There are a number of reasons why people choose to work in other careers instead of teachers. First, teachers’ salaries are lower compared to other professions. For example, in the UK, a doctor with five years’ experience will earn far more than a teacher with the same experience. Second, teachers often have to much work to do, both on and off school hours. In fact, most teachers are snowed under with marking and paperwork which means that they have to sacrifice their personal time and leisure time to prepare for jobs.

Nevertheless, there are also a variety of solutions to reverse this trend. First, raising the minimum wage and benefits for the teachers would be a great step. It would significantly encourage young students to ponder about becoming a teacher. Furthermore, to reduce the teachers' workloads, schools should employ assistants to help the tutors and engage their staffs with new teaching methods. For instance, schools has applied grading software systems like Vietschool and Edmodo in order to reduce the burden on teachers, which help them have time to take care of their families.

In conclusion, although the trend might be difficult to reverse, there are ways to get around it. Both central government and schools have to be more proactive to keep this career more attractive to other jobs.
