Many university students live with their families, while others live away from home because their universities are in different places. What are the advantages and disadvantages both situations.
It is true that there are a number of students choose to migrate to other places in order to pursue their studies. However, some student opt not to leave the parental nest and study at local universities. In my opinion, there are both advantages and disadvantages of both situations.
Granted, young people who live at home with their parents are less likely to socialize with their fellow students, and suffering the feeling of isolating from their peer group at university. Indeed, the majority of time of home based-students spending is limited in the frame of studying and commuting. Leading to failure to make and sustain friendships, and that have a profoundly negative impact on their coursework grades. Furthermore, these home-based students often depend heavily on their parent’s support due to they are unable to cover their needs. Hence, they keep being a financial burden on their family. However, the major advantage of living with family is that student is able to economize since they do not need to pay for accommodation.
On the one hand, when students live away from home, they have to tackle several problems such as criminal attractions. University life is a hodgepodge of socializing, drug and alcoholism, and this combined with the sense of stress can make these students become more susceptible to social issues. In addition, financial pressure also has a detrimental impact on their performances. independent living arouses a problem of managing money in efficient way. It is undeniable that the cost of living has to be pay by themselves. Thus, a wrong decision can carry with it the risk of getting into debt. Nonetheless, by living away from home students can escape the distractions of family life, and thereby establish study routines and form friendships with others.
In conclusion, each situation of living at home and away from home has its own pros and cons, and it can be identified.
