Task 2:
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Providing Internet access is just as important as other services, such as building roads, so governments should offer Internet access to all of their citizens at no cost. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Since using Internet access is essential to society, similar to other services namely building roads, the government should provide free Internet access to all of their citizens. I completely agree with this statement.
To begin with, providing Internet access at no cost could be beneficial to society in terms of educational purposes. For instance, in Vietnam, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many students from primary schools to universities have to stay at home and study online. This could be a huge problem for many poor families since parents are not able to pay money for the Internet so that their children would access it for their studies. However, thanks to governmental support, this problem will be tackled and so students can use their computers or smartphones with the free Internet access to join in their online classes, discuss with their learning partners via camera and search many useful online learning resources.
Furthermore, using free Internet supported by the government can ease the financial burden for many businesses, which will enable them to sustain their business. For example, many owners of coffee shops have to pay a high monthly fee for WIFI – Internet connection to support activities at their stores. This could put pressure on some coffee shops that earn less money from their business. Nevertheless, the government financial aid in terms of Internet access will put an end to this scenario. Instead of paying for it, the owners can spend their money improving their quality of service or save their money in case of emergency, thereby maintaining their business.
To sum up, I agree that, it is important for the government to provide free Internet access to everyone just as what they do for other services such as building roads. As such, many students from poor families can use the free Internet for their learning purposes in the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, many businesses do not need to pay money for the Internet, which would help them use their money to continue their business.
