Writing task 2- TOEFL. Topic: Society- Education

Hi everyone, I have just come back and today I wrote an essay about whether or not teachers should make their social and political views known to students in the classroom. This topic is quite challenging so I hope I can receive your feedback to learn more.

Thanks a lot !

Task 2: Teachers should not make their social or political views known to students in the classroom.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
These days, many people hold different views about society and politics. Teachers should not express their social or political opinions to students in the classroom. I completely agree with this statement.
To begin with, when teachers openly share with students about their political and social views in the classroom setting, they can create a bad impression on students. Take me as an example. Three years ago, to prepare for an English test at my university, I, along with my friend, joined an online course, hosted by an English teacher. At first, I and my friend cherished the teacher since he was really humorous and was willing to answer questions of my friend and me. However, on the last day of the course, he spent most of the time giving us his opinions about his favorite political party and then asked us to support them. Feeling uncomfortable about that, we had to make an excuse to leave the online classroom earlier than expected. Had he not expressed his own political views and required us to support him, we would still have enjoyed the course and maintained a good impression on him.
Furthermore, once students adopt political and social views from their teachers, they will have inappropriate behavior, which can negatively affect society. For example, in America, to support the campaign Black Lives Matter, many overexcited high school students normally go out the street together and these groups of students have unacceptable actions such as throwing the trashcans, damaging the streetlights, and even attacking bystanders. This has led to severe damage to their regions and also to the people involved. Recently, when being asked about their motive by the TV reporters, some high school student of one group in Texas said that they did that since they got inspired by their head teacher, who normally showed his strong ideas about giving support for Black Lives Matter community during class.
To sum up, I believe that teachers should not voice their social and political opinions towards their students in the classroom. Teachers when doing so will create a bad impression on their students. Also, students following their teacher’s social or political ideas can have unsuitable behavior, having serious consequences in society.
