Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The opinions of celebrities, such as famous entertainers and athletes, are more important to younger people than they are to older people. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Celebrities and athletes are influential people in society. Therefore, their views should carry more weight for the young people rather than for the older ones. I completely disagree with this statement.
Apparently, since many well-known celebrities and athletes have already gained success in their lives, they can inspire young generations, those who are on their way of shaping their future. However, we should not overlook the fact that public figures would have some notable impacts on the older ones.
To begin with, celebrities and athletes can call for the older generations to make significant contributions to the environment. One striking example of famous people who can do this is Leonardo DiCaprio- an American actor. Being an active environmentalist for years, Leo normally updates on social media about endangered polar bears, suffering from a shortage of food and loss of their sea ice habitat due to climate change. Thanks to him, many experienced environmental activists and well-established international organizations can know about their severe situations and so visit the North Poles to support the food source for the polar bears as well as use some special equipment to reconstruct the ice-their main habitat.
Furthermore, expressing views of celebrities and athletes can help society become better. For instance, many famous female tennis players such as Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are advocates for giving rights to women in workplace. They often appear in televisions as well as in press conferences to call for everyone to put an end to the disadvantages that women normally have at work such as low pay, unfair competition with their colleagues, short maternity leaves and so on. As a result, leaders and officers in some companies, when watching their speeches, would be inclined to reconsider and even modify their working regulations for female employees.
To sum up, I believe that the opinions of celebrities and athletes play vital roles in society, both for the young and for the older ones. This is because they can use their power social media to attract public attention to protect the environment as well as they can make positives changes to society by publicly expressing their ideas about the social issues, which could be addressed afterward.
