Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is important to know about events happening around the world, even if it is unlikely that they will affect your daily life. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Every day, many noticeable events occurring around the world are widely reported for everybody. In my opinion, it is vital to learn about these events even if there is not a high chance that they will happen in our daily life.

To begin with, keeping informed with the global news would encourage more meaningful acts in helping those in need so that these people can improve their life. For instance, in Haiti, Africa, due to severe weather conditions such as drought, floods and storms, many Haitian people have to suffer from poverty and some of them even have several diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and cholera. Therefore, when people all around the world get informed about their bad conditions, they can give assistance to the Haitians. On a small scale, many people from nationalities will donate and provide basic necessities such as food and medicines to the Haitians through charitable organizations or even they can visit Haiti to do so. On a larger scale, international organizations such as WHO, and UNICEF can call for some special campaigns to improve the Haitians' medical facilities as well as give special medical treatment for these sick ones. All of them, as a result, can help Haitians to overcome their health difficulties and improve their living conditions.

Furthermore, staying current on the latest pieces of information about the world can allow us to be well-prepared in upcoming calamities, limiting the risks of losing people and losing property. For instance, in China, every year, people in many places have to sustain heavy losses in the floods such as losing people and their valuable properties. Giving news about this disastrous event also permits those who live in safer areas to predict about the dangerous natural phenomenon so that they can come up with preventive solutions, reducing many causes of death and property loss when they confront it the next time.

To sum up, I believe that although some global events will have few effects on our daily lives, it is essential that we should obtain information about them. This is because we can give the support necessary to people in need to deal with these problems in their lives as well as we can predict and have some feasible solutions for catastrophes that may happen in the near future.
