Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

In order to be well-informed, a person must get information from many different news resources.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

These days, assessing the information would be instrumental in different aspects of our lives. To stay current with the news, we must update information from varied sources. I agree with this statement.

To begin with, people when getting informed from various sources, would gain in-depth knowledge and become more objective about the topic that they pay attention to. For instance, recently, many people have been enraged and condemned Russia’s government as "evil people" because of their violent attack on Ukraine’s borders, causing much harm and loss for people and also the country itself. Despite so, when many international press agencies decided to publicize their documentaries and other resources explaining the main motive of the Russian government, people have been less severe to Russia’s government as they understood the motive of the Russians. If they only learned about the situation between Russia and Ukraine’s border from limited sources, they would not become objective and so can have more opposition acts to the Russian government.

Furthermore, obtaining different information from news and television would prevent individuals from being misled by unreliable sources, and also improve their lives. Take me as an example. When I was a university student, I normally followed some online advice that young people should not sleep less than 8 hours a day unless they want to deteriorate their health. However, I have changed my perspective about this after watching a talk show featuring a Japanese sleep expert on television. In this show, he clarified an assumption that people think sleeping more than 8 hours should benefit their health. He said that this would be true for certain cases since everyone’s circadian rhythms are different. Those sleeping from 5 to 6 hours per day could still be healthy if they do exercise regularly and also have a well-balanced diet. Also, those sleeping more than 8 hours without exercising and consuming healthy food, are more likely to get severe diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke. He concluded that it is a matter of personal choice whether individuals should sleep less or more than 8 hours so long as their body can adapt to it. The explanation of the expert has helped me to become clearer so I can choose the sleeping habit that benefits my health.

To sum up, I believe that to keep informed, it is necessary for us to collect information from many sources. Doing so would enable us to become more objective and clearer about issues in life. Also, we can learn about useful information that can assist us in our daily lives.
