Writing task 2- TOEFL . TOPIC: LEADERSHIP

Hi everyone, today's topic seems challenging for me so I hope I can receive feedback from everyone.

Thanks a million!

Task 2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Leadership comes naturally: one cannot learn to be a leader.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

For many years, there has been some debate about whether the leader is made or born. Some people argue that leadership is an innate ability, so it is impossible for one to learn to become a leader. I disagree with this statement.

To begin with, rather than being an inborn talent, leadership is the ability to direct and manage people of a group in any field, obtained by knowledge and experience. That means people may know their strengths and weakness to identify their type of leadership but they only become real leaders by equipping themselves with essential skills from life experience and training. For example, they can access some university courses about leadership, reading leadership skills books, or even experiencing as leaders in some meetings or group projects to learn more about leadership.

Furthermore, it normally takes time and effort to become a better leader so that one can be able to make positive changes to society. Take Uncle Ho- the illustrious Vietnamese revolutionary and politician as an example. In order to find freedom and independence for the Vietnamese people in the 20th century, he started learning to become a good future leader in his 20s. However, Uncle Ho had to undergo many vicissitudes in his life to make that dream come true. He worked in various fields, being under the supervision of others to learn about leadership. He also discovered the leadership skills of his predecessors such as Phan Chau Trinh, Phan Boi Chau and analyzed about pros and cons of their plans. Meanwhile, he actively engaged in many meetings and campaigns to call for public support. After many years of effort, Uncle Ho used his leadership experience and knowledge to lead the successful campaign to make Vietnam independent.

To sum up, I believe that instead of having naturally-born talent, people can learn to become leaders- those who can make positive impacts on others through knowledge and also the experience that they acquire over time.

For many years, there has been some debate about whether the leader is made or born. (See my previous comment. Many learners memorize "controversy", "debate" and similar words and then fill in the blanks with the topic. Do not do this. The essay is much better without this sentence. .) Some people argue that leadership is an inn
