WRITING TASK 2: SHOULD CHILDREN BE ALLOWED TO USE PHONES AT SCHOOL?

It is widely argued that there should be a ban on using phones at school. Others, however, believe that students should be given permission to use them. From my perspective, I agree with the former view.

On the one hand, if students are given permission to use their phones during the school day, they can search for information online to improve the quality of lessons. In this way, children can be motivated to voice their opinions since they have had a grasp of knowledge about lessons with the help of their smartphones. Also, phones help parents keep in touch with their children. In any urgent circumstances or emergencies, children can call their parents immediately.

On the other hand, I support the school of thought that children should not be allowed to use phones at school. First, it will result in study distraction if students are over-reliant on their smartphones. For example, when sitting an exam, instead of completing it on their own, they seek help from the Internet. This would lead to far-reaching consequences when students keep cheating later on. Furthermore, schools should encourage students to socialise by talking to each other. Thus, instead of being glued to their phones, they can find a soulmate to share sweet and sour.

In conclusion, the use of mobile phones by students while in school has some benefits, including the ability to search for information and communicate with their parents. Nevertheless, I believe that it must be restricted to stop its undesirable effects of distraction and promote friendships.
