Question: With a growing world population one of the most pressing issues is that of feeding such a large number of people. Some people think that GM foods offer a viable solution to this problem.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The pressure offers food to meet the growing global population’s need, which has been gaining a great deal of attraction. It is argued that genetically modified foods are feasible to tackle this problem. This essay is to explain why I agree with this opinion.
There are reasons to believe that this kind of food is seen as a way to deal with the needs of population growth. The first reason for this is that the land that is used for the sector of agriculture is replacing gradually due to the development of urbanization to build roads, buildings and many other constructions. In other words, the quantity of the agrarian products is getting increasingly limited while the world population is becoming more and more increase. Therefore, the advent of GM foods can become an alternative solution for tradition food, by changing DNA structures, people can create a high yield with a short harvested time. This means that it is likely to provide enough food for everyone.
Some believe that there is another solution for this problem by offering more organic food. This product seems to be nutritious and have positive benefits for health this is because it is planted without preservatives and pesticides. However, the cost of this product is quite high and very few people can afford, resulting in not many people using it. Besides of this, there are some hesitations when using genetically modified food because some think that it might cause disease such as allergies. Nevertheless, in fact, there is no evidence to prove this problem. Thus, using foods that is genetic modification is still a good alternative foodstuff.
In conclusion, although there may be some unproven negative views about genetically modified foods, I personally agree that it is probably a good alternative solution to provide food for humanity.
