Topic: It is thought that the increase in juvenile crime can be attributed to violence in the media. Do you agree that this the main course of juvenile crime? What solution can you offer to deal with this situation?

My essay:

In today’s modern society, the media is increasingly flourishing with the advent of the Internet. Some people argue that violent scenes on the social media contributed to the upward trend of juvenile offenders. In my opinion, I agree with this view and this essay will discuss several causes and suggest some solutions to tackle this issue.

There are different reasons to explain the problem. The key reason is that although young people are taught at school about wrongdoings, they do not have enough experiences and knowledge in reality. Therefore, if they are permitted to watch a lot of violent behavior, it means that they can learn to do the same activities. For example, some teenagers have made dangerous swords fighting with other groups just only because they wanted to do the same things they saw on the movie. Another reason for this is that these juveniles are also likely to come up with bad ideas, such as robbing or stealing, after learning some wrong ways from social media. As a result, they will become criminals.

Solutions to tackle the issue are presented as below. In actual fact, the relatives, such as parents or grandparents, can help juveniles by analyzing and explaining to them to understand wrong behaviors from social networks. If this is the case, they will not only broaden their knowledge, but they can also avoid misconducts. Besides, media producers will also have age restrictions for their products, resulting in youth only viewing what is appropriate for their age in the media. In other words, they do not allow watching violence in the media. By this way, they are allowed to see bad aspects in the real world.

In conclusion, although there may be some possibly negative impacts on teenagers from watching violent media, I strongly believe that they will avoid these negative effects if they are well managed from relatives and society.
