On the purpose of building up a thriving economy and a better welfare of the society, the wealth of finance and that of knowledge are considered the key factors contributing to striking a comprehensive economy. While many people side to the idea that financial abundance is the benchmark of success, others opine that those dedicating their ability to improve the society such as scientists and teachers are the most worth-honouring. This essay will elaborate on both sides of the argument and give personal opinion.
There are many compelling reasons as to why being well-off is the convincing proof of success. In fact, with a few exceptions, the path leading to sustainable affluence is challenging and demanding, thus, in order to gain extraordinary achievements, influential figures are likely to make greater efforts and sacrifice many times as much as others. Furthermore, when these people reach the statement of monetary stability and get high social status, they have financial ability to assist the society in various means and even sponsor for the process of constructing theories and representing breakthroughs serving for commercial development.
However, the place of such people as scientists and teachers is also of paramount importance. Science, in one way or another, has played an indispensable role in wealth creation and improvement of living standards, as it associates human's evolution with the eternity of civilization. Otherwise, although education is neither a direct element yelding in success nor creator of inventions, its academic contributions are the sharpers of minds and thus their influence can last for generations as well as generate a myriad of desirable outcomes. These will act as the sound and solid foundation for the holistic growth of an intellectual world.
From my perspective, a prosperous society is unable to erect if there is any shortage of financial wealth and intellectual labour. Given that individuals are cells, they will decide whether our body is healthy or not depending on the strength of each cell. Therefore, prosperity and knowledge acquisition have mutually benefited each other and can never be replaced.
In conclusion, there is no obvious criterion to define one's success. I assert that both pursuing wealth and enriching intellectual capability would establish the equilibrium of the society, therefore, the relationship between them is nonpareil.
