WRITING TASK 2-NUMBER 9

Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?

One common problem in modern society is that only a part of waste from households is recycled. To promote recycling, some people believe that the best way is that governments should require all citizens to recycle legally. In my opinion, imposing laws and severe fine is a good idea to raise the amount of waste recycled.

First, laws are compulsory, meaning that people will have to make every possible effort to recycle their waste. If they do not implement recycling laws, they are likely to be punished or fined, which can have an adverse impact on their lives. This can be seen in traffic laws. People are aware that they can get fined if they cross the red light of exceed speed limit. Therefore, they tend to follow the rules in order not to punished by police officers.

Second, not all countries have laws for recycling. We already have many rules to protect our environment related to deforestation or carbon dioxide emissions, but there is no visible laws for recycling waste from homes. This leads to the carelessness of people about their waste production, which can cause a throwaway society.

Third, individuals seem to ignore the recycling process. They are simply expected to divide the recyclable and non-recyclable waste. However, they tend not to take part in the appropriate recycling process as a result of their lack of obligation.

In conclusion, I strongly hold the belief that imposing laws is the best way to increase the quantity of recycled waste from homes.
