Many museums charge for admission while others are free. Do you think the advantages of charging people for admission to museums outweigh the disadvantages?

In some nations, people have to pay for visiting come museums. Personally, I believe that it brings more benefits than drawbacks to the museums.

On the one hand, charging people for admission to museums is likely to have a negative influence on the number of visitors. People tend to choose other museums which they do not have to pay for visiting. This can gradually reduce the frequent visiting from citizens or foreigners if the fee is to high.

However, I am convinced that the fact public having to pay for a visit to museums is definitely beneficial to these museums. First, if a certain amount of money has to be paid when people want to enter a museum, the authority can use this fee to maintain and provide some kinds of facilities which are necessary for museums. In Viet Nam, when visiting Viet Nam Fine Art Museum, people have to pay some money, and this money is funded for providing services and devices to keep all the precious pictures safe. Second, an entrance fee can bring a sense of responsibility for the citizens. When people have to pay for a visit to museums, they seem to be more careful with whatever they do in the museum to make sure that every work of art is untouched. Protecting tangible heritages is of paramount importance, and every visitor who take pride in the beauty of the cultural identity in their country will be more responsible when entering any museum.

In conclusion, the drawbacks of an admission charge are overshadowed by its benefits in the sense of maintaining traditional values of a country and raising a sense of responsibility for the visitors.
