MY ESSAY

Children are considered as the future of a country, playing an important role in the its sustainable development. In recent years, the general tendency of young couples is to have kids later in their life. The questions of why this trend has gained its popularity and how it effects to society have sparked a controversy.

The fact that people make decision to procrastinate giving birth bases on a variety of certain reasons. To begin with, new marriage partners are usually young and desire to devote to society as well as pursue their career. Not having a child means that they could spend more time working together with getting more experiences and they therefore have more opportunities to get promotion. Secondly, some couples take priority to earn living over having a small family. Fully focusing on earning living and accumulating income would bring them a standardised life and financial stability to get ready for raising children in the future. Additionally, most of young couples are aware of the magnitude of child rearing responsibility which means that they have to put aside a great time of their life dealing with problems arising from bringing up a child. At the same time, they also treasure their youth and would like to lengthen the freedom of life for other priorities. Consequently, new married couples delay parenthood until they are well-prepared for it.

There are a bunch of effects found on delaying giving birth. The first reason is that this trend is likely to cause significant age gap between two generations. As a consequence, parents find it hard to deeply understand their offspring. Another reason is demonstrated by renowned researchers that if parents are at the middle age, their new born children might be less physically healthy. This could have negative impact on succeeding generations, leading to the reduction in quality of future workforce.

In conclusion, there are various certain reasons behind the tendency to have children later in life, bringing about negative influences on both family and society. Thus, couples should make an appointment with doctors to be consulted the best time for procreation so as to avoid unwanted problems.
