Writing Task 2 - Managing Money

High school students are usually not good at managing money. What are the reasons? What are the solutions?

It is a fact that high schools students are usually not able to manage their financial budget and use it appropriately. Give that the issue leads to substantial impacts on the money management for students in their future, identifying the reasons is the key to finding the solutions.

There are a number of reasons why most of the high school students do not use their money well. First, since they have no knowledge reliant on financial management before, it hard to require them to use their budget efficiently. For example, if students were taught to plan on using their money for various purposes such as clothes, entertainments, and savings, they would reduce their waste of money on unnecessary purpose. Second, the financial support of parents acts as a deterrent for students to improve monetary management skills. As they do not have to worry about the source of money, they would not be responsible for spending their parents’ money.

Nevertheless, there are also a variety of solutions to mitigate this issue. In fact, high schools could arrange some classes that help students to learn about using money wisely and economically in studying programs. This would benefit not only the spending of students in present but also their financial skills in the future. In addition, in order to make high school students become responsible for their budget, parents should fix the amount of money they give to their kid each period, such as $100 for each month. This action would put students into a compulsory situation that limits their spending.

In conclusion, even though a lot of high school students has problems with their spending, there are various ways to tackle it. Teaching financial knowledge and fixing money supported from parents can be two of the most useful ways to deal with this issue.
