Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience

Each year, several languages are on the verge of extinction. Some opine that this phenomenon is of no consequence since people’s interaction will be more convenient with fewer languages. I completely disagree with this opinion and think that the diversity of languages is paramount important.

First of all, a language not only is a means of community but also an inseparable part of our culture. In other words, each country has it’s own tradition and region. Therefore, the ways people express their inner thoughts and emotions are different according to the place they live. Language is a key to convey these things. Hence, the diversity of languages reflect the various cultures. For example, storytelling is said to be the tradition of Irish people in that their language has the wildest vocabularies in the world. That’s why language extinction has posed a threat to the cultural values of each country.

Secondly, In addition to the ability to cover every eventuality, bilingual people seem to be in the enviable position of having many opportunities to land a job. Hence, keeping indigenous languages alive alongside international languages ultimately has the added benefit that it’s a path to better education as well as employment. In Singapore is considered to be the centre of commerce in ASIA continent thank to the fact that most Singaporean are bilingual, paving the way to communicate with various countries around the world.

To conclude, although life will be straightforward if the world has fewer languages, it’s might have the result of erosion of culture and limiting of language ability of people. Thus, language extinction should be considered to be a vital problem.
