Topic: When choosing a job, the salary is the most important consideration. Do you agree or disagree?

Whether the salary is the top priority when making decisions on future careers is a provocative issue. While I accept that this may suit many people, I disagree with the idea of salary being given a priority over other considerations.

On the one hand, salary is a matter of concern worth meticulously considered before one embarks on his career. Receiving an acceptable amount of money from working hard ensures a decent standard of living of employees. If they are paid an amount worth their dedication, they will receive encouragement to boost labor activity and to devote more to the companies. For instance, Vingroup, a large corporation considered yielding the most profit of all companies in Vietnam, gives their employees a higher salary than that of the comparable positions of other companies and in turn earn thousand millions of dollars annually. This example speaks volumes about the importance of taking salary into consideration.

On the other hand, salary should not be placed too much emphasis over other issues when searching for a job. Besides salary, there are other factors worth considering which affect one’s decision on future careers such as flexible working hours, health and safety in the workplace, company pension scheme and job prospects. A recent survey conducted by the University of New York showed that 80% of job seekers advocate the perspective of job prospects being a crucial aspect of job satisfaction. These people assert that if promotion opportunities are given, the job itself will bring a golden chance for workers to express themselves and to get a higher salary.

In conclusion, it is certainly true that salary plays a central role in seeking a job, but this is by no means that it should be prioritized over other concerns.
