Although more and more people read the news on internet, newspapers will remain the most important source of news for the majority of people. Do you agree or disagree?
In the light of proliferation of technology, it is true that the Internet plays an essential role in general knowledge. While I agree that newspapers is not as popular as it was in the past among people, I also believe that online news completely dominates the way people access to the information.
On the one hand, fewer people read the newspapers because of several reasons. Firstly, the news is delivered slowly. It takes hours to do editorial work at the office. For example, the journalist need to spend time correcting the grammar mistakes and gathering the information. Secondly, newspapers inflict a great environmental harm. Hundreds of trees have been cut down for paper use. Thus, factories discharge tons of chemical waste which come from the production process.
On the other hand, at the same time, online news is becoming widespread. It is highly convenient for updating and retrieving for the news because people can easily get the information by using their smart phones and laptops. For example, people tend to surf on the Internet for daily news in the morning or whenever they want to in lieu of wasting time finding some grocery stores nearby. Moreover, online news also appeals people by its content. Readers find it gripping to search for the article which combines up-to-date information and captivating videos and photos. In contrast, the young is not into newspapers because there is just boring words without any good illustration.
In conclusion, it seems to me that online news is likely replacement for the traditional newspaper.
