Topic 2: Although more and more people read news on the Internet, newspapers will remain the most important source of news. Do you agree or disagree?
The internet has been emerging as a popular choice for people to update what is happening around them. I believe that the Internet will soon be more popular than the traditional press.
On the one hand, I believe newspapers still keep being a vital source of information, even in the internet age. Firstly, newspapers play a role part in providing reliable and purified information to readers, instead of rumours or solely entertaining activities. For the reason that being in a newspaper, every information needs verifying about its authenticity, which often is taken from trustworthy individuals and organizations. Secondly, they do wonder for our eyes in the long-term, especially for those who do not have healthy eyes. For example, it is commonplace to see the elderly reading news in traditional ways which is more relaxing for them, even when they know how to use a smartphone; it is. Finally, touching a paper to read the information brings much greater feelings than that in online. These feelings would stem from the high quality of image and paper as well as the money you spend on it.
However, online information is likely to be preferential to online one for a variety of reasons. The main reason is that the internet is highly convenient as we can read it anywhere and anytime as long as we are connected to the Internet. It is commonplace to see people standing in cafes, bus stations or parks with a smartphone in their hands to read news. Another key benefit of reading news on the Internet compared to traditional press is that readers would say a host of expenditure on it. The cost of newspapers will increase after a long time, and readers have to buy at least one per day if they want to avoid being obsolete which leads to a substantial cumulative cost in one year; therefore, choosing the Internet will be a better choice with the aim of saving costs. A final point is that the Internet accommodates us to get up-to-the-minute information by many means of platforms. Besides acquiring information from verified e-news websites, people can get information from Facebook, Twitter or Youtube where information is shared in every second and discussed actively.
In conclusion, the Internet and traditional press still play an important role in updating news to readers. However, Internet, with its advantages and increasing growth, will soon be a more popular choice among readers.
