It is true that high school students are not renowned for their skills in managing finance. While some reasons justify this situation, several solutions should be applied to tackle it effectively. There are two primary reasons why managing money is a difficult skill for high school students. Firstly, many high schools nowadays do not have subjects related to money management in their curriculum. These subjects are still not highly valued because of dated educations in many nations in the world. As a result, students, especially those who do not have parents knowing how to balance their finances, are likely to squander their expenses wastefully due to the lack of money-related skills. Secondly, teenagers are impressionable and impulsive. Many companies easily lure these young people into purchasing their products by skillfully using appealing advertisements. For example, in Vietnam, many young students nowadays spend most of their money buying luxury clothes without considering other essential purposes. Education and governments should be involved in this situation in order to address it. The first feasible approach is promoting money management subjects in high schools. As students have basic financial knowledge and skills, they would rarely come to waste their money. Furthermore, governments should lay heavy levies on unrealistic advertisements, inhibiting them from causing a misunderstanding about the association of their products and the glamour and success. In conclusion, high school students lack skills in managing their money due to educational reasons, making them vulnerable to unrealistic advertisements. Several solutions should be taken to resolve the roots of this problem.
