Writing task 2 foods help me

People cart eat a wide variety of food that can be grown in other areas. As a result, people eat more food produced in other regions than local food Do you think the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

In today’s world, people are entitled to access more choices of foods, they can consume foods that are produced in various areas. As a result, locally produced foods are being marginalized as consumers tend to gravitate toward imported foods. Personally, I believe that this trend has both advantages and disadvantages, but its disadvantages are devastating.

To begin with, due to widespread demands for imported foods, people’s diet has become more diversified. Granted, there are variety of kinds of foods that require different climatic and soil conditions. Therefore, some vegetable, fruits are unable to adapt to places’ natural conditions, and this act as a barrier for local consumers to have diversified nutrition. Growing demands from consumers for imported foods would encourage the trade between different regions, leading to an increase in food products and a diverse selection of foods. For example, Cherries are not indigenous to Vietnam, but by importing cherries, Vietnamese consumers now can easily pay for and enjoy the fruits. Furthermore, the rise in imported foods consumption would encourage food processing companies to improve the quality of their products to gain competitive advantages, providing consumers with more nutritional benefits.

Conversely, with a view to expending their shelf life, imported foods require a number of pesticides and packages, which are detrimental to the environment. Thus, the increase in the number of imported foods can lead to environmental degradation. Additionally, the excessive consumption of imported foods can potentially eliminate hundreds of jobs at outlets. In fact, by consuming local foods, people actually support local farmers and producers. Therefore, if the demands of domestic foods disappear, these people will be out of work. Furthermore, domestic foods are closely correlated to the manifestation of a place’s character. Thus, the dominant imported foods can cause the extinction of unique delicacies and cuisine of a place.

In conclusion, despite the benefits of the increase in the consumption of imported foods, I believe that its advantages are eclipsed by its disadvantages as it may pose environmental and cultural risks and put some group of people out of work.
