Writing Task 2: Food Securities

“With a growing world population, one of the most pressing issues is that of feeding such a large number of people. Some people think that GM foods offer a viable solution to this problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree?”

No one can save our life, except for our decision today. Therefore, we need to focus on saving our daily dishes, besides taking advantage of GM foods. Additionally, the governments must use their power to prevent this bad behaviour, such as enforcing wasted-food taxes or prohibitions. Hence, more and more people is able to cope with the hunger and improve their future.

Population explosion has been one of the most common reasons lead to food securities crisis. In the recent years, GM foods have been believed as an efficient tool to reduce the hunger in the world. I fairly agree with above argument, however, this problem will go on unless we stop wasting our daily meals.

Initially, GM foods are expected as sustainable supply for our meals. Indeed, many scientists investigated GM foods as artificial products, which could adapt to various types of climate. Due to this ability, farmers around the world could grow GM plants and provide food resources in the long term. Therefore, the vulnerable group is able to access more food, contributing for tackling the hunger in underdeveloped countries.

Nevertheless, GM foods are not the priority strategy that governments should follow. Indeed, the main cause of food shortage was the food-wasting behaviour. When the meat, vegetables, and others are used once, it is hard to be reused. Hence, the rest of the meals will become waste, and need to leave it. Due to this problem, some economists suggest a tax on wasted foods. It can be summarized that the more food households discharge, the more money they must pay to support the poor.
