Hello, this is one of my first efforts on writing ielts task 2. Please help me check this modest essay. I would appreciate all your constructive criticism.
Question: In the last century, the first man to walk on the moon said it was “a giant leap for mankind”. However, some people think it has made little difference to our daily lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is a controversial issue that the fact that human sets their first footstep on the moon has contributed little benefit to normal people. While I have to admit that it is undeniable in terms of realistic thinking, its impact of human psychology is hard to ignore.
First, this scientific achievement brings little practical meaning to the lives of ordinary people. Apparently, it costs governments in the world a huge fortune, tremendous effort and considerable time to research, experiment and finally conduct this project. For instance, in order to complete the mission, scientists have to build the rockets, calculate the distance from the Earth to the Moon, recruit highly qualified astronauts and tons of other tasks. Besides, this accomplishment leaves huge impact on science and universe study yet hardly contributes to any other vital aspects of life such as health, environment or people’s living standard. The world, especially developing countries, for example Vietnam, are still suffering from poor sanitation systems, overcrowded hospitals and also, people in some remote areas are living in complete poverty.
While this achievement seems pointless in practical terms, I believe there are significant inspiring impact of this scientific success. There is no doubt that this is one of the most outstanding breakthroughs in the history of human kind. People have proved that they can not only be the masters of the Earth but are able to go beyond the universe boundaries. Human brain is unlimited as this fascinating achievement has inspired all people in the world from all walks of life that nothing is impossible if you have a vision. After this success, people continued to push their limit by accomplishing other challenging tasks like sending the second man to the moon, successfully cloning animals and building underground world.
In conclusion, sending people to the moon has enormously inspired human in the world yet it does possess adversity in term of practical life.
