Writing task 2 - Crime

Topic:

In some countries, prison is the most common solution to the problems of crime. (OPINION) However, a more effective solution is to provide people with better education so that they do not become criminals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, finding a solution to reduce the crime rate is becoming the most concerning to many nations. Although a better education program seems to be a good solution to potential criminals, punishing them to time in prison can be considered as a better option in serious issues.

Doubtless, education is a good measure of less serious crimes. In fact, the majority of criminals have low education, and most of them are unable to afford their life needs, which renders them have to risk their lives to earn a living. Providing a good education program will bring more career opportunities, and discourage them from committing crimes if they are fully aware of the consequences of illegal behaviors.

But in my view, it is extremely important to let the criminals get punishment for what they did because an education program to inmates is not always effective in some serious cases. Let take sex offenses, violent crimes, and serial killers as examples. The criminals harmed their victims badly so that they need to be pushed into prison with a sentence. This is a good way for criminals to repay victims and their families, as well as protecting public safety, hindering those criminals from causing further harm to society in the future. In addition, many criminals are educated well, but they still violate the law because of their greed. So that making up a better education is not an effective method in this case.

In conclusion, I completely disagree that providing a better education is an excellent option for criminals. Therefore, I completely disagree with the idea that education is the best option for inmates in special cases. Prison should be a form of imprisonment for criminals, who deserve to receive a sentence for what they did.
