WRITING TASK 2:

Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

MY WRITING:

It is argued that governments’ revenue should be allocated for railway system rather than street network. I partly agree with this argument as I suppose that both of them are compatible with each other and need investing fairly.

On one hand, the emergence of logistics and supply chain management companies along with online trading has led to an increase in using both railways and roads. In many cases, goods cannot be transported on roads but railways are acceptable and vice versa. For example, I do need to send something from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, I am certain to choose railways because they are suitable for this long distance and take me less fee than using roads. However, railways are not always perfect for transporting. Supposing that I have an order in the range of under ten kilometers from my house, it is not necessary for me to use railways. This means these two systems equally play an important part in daily life.

On the other hand, the transport system of a nation reflects its level of growth. As you can see, no developed countries in the world have a poor set of transport facilities. Take China, the USA as examples, they are famous for many modern constructions of roads and railways. Therefore, if a nation would like to show off its economy, it often starts investing in these transport systems simultaneously without taking priority over one category.

In conclusion, expenditures on railways and roads should be divided equally to ensure the quality of transport service and embellish the image of its owner country.
