Urban areas are attractive places. Some people think that the state budget should be allocated more for works of art such as paintings and sculptures to make them better to live in. From my perspective, I agree with this statement as investing more money on art can brings economic and health benefits to these areas.
First, the arts such as paintings and sculptures can attract tourists, promoting local economic development. Tourists visit a community primarily intend to attend art events and they spend directly on these events and may also tourist services including hotels and restaurants. This encourages local tourism companies to extend their chain of services and goods, generating income for local residents. In every year, Da Nang organizes a painting exhibition consisting of numbers of world-famous artists’ masterpieces. This event draws thousands of visitors. In fact, due to a large number of visitors, the tourism sectors in DA NANG have grown prosperously.
Second, the arts can help individuals to reduce the stress level, therefore, improving the public health mentally. Today people are under considerable pressure of heavy workload. As a result, people, especially white-collar workers spend their majority of time to work incessantly and this makes them stressed and anxious, leading to several mental problems. Investing more money on arts could be the remedy of this problem since it encourages people to engage in art activities in which they can escape from the hectic life. Recent research concluded that these activities can help individuals to release stress, thus, leading to an improved happiness and life satisfaction.
In conclusion, I agree that the authorities of urban areas should allocate more money for works of art such as paintings and sculptures as they have a beneficial impact on the local economy and public health.
