Writing task 2 about technology

Question: Research has show that technology is having more influence on people'lifestyles than other factors in our lives.

What do you consider to be the major influence?

It may be undeniable that technology is developing rapidly and being influential to people's lifestyles. In my viewpoint, technology has greater effect on citizens. It can actually change our lives with both advantages and disadvantages.

People benefit so much from technology. To begin with, because of the advancement of technology, it is much more straightforward and convenient for people to contact with others who live far from them. They no longer send hand-written letters which took so much time to reach the receivers.Nowadays, people are able to send their messages to several other people at the same time or they can call to each other without paying phone bills because they may use Messenger, Viber. Furthermore, people may work at various places because of the availability of portable devices such as laptops or smartphones. They may bring them to anywhere they would like as long as there is Internet access.

On the other hand, technology also influenced negatively on people's lifestyles. First, the relationships may be broken up. Due to the development of social network and e-mail, face-to-face conversations appear to be replaced by texting messages. Family and friend reunions are shifting into phone calls. Therefore, modern people are not likely to talk to each other in public places. Moreover, online games have attracted many people, especially teenagers and brings detrimental impacts on them. Game addict has a high possibility to spend money for trivial items they play. Also, since there are a number of technological devices and tools that attract people, individuals may waste too much time on them and fewer physical activities are done.This has led to a considerable increase in the rate of obesity.

To sum up, it is indisputable fact that technology has greater impacts on people's lifestyles. Though it brings a range of benefits, technology also has numerous drawbacks that should be taken consideration.
