TOPIC: People think that the government should increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles to solve environmental problems. Give your opinion.

In today’s modern society, it is necessary for governments should impose heavy taxes on vehicles consuming fossil fuels like gas, oil, and so forth. I believe that the governments need raise petrol prices, but there will require more essential measures to address environmental issues.

To begin with, increasing the costs of fuel for transportation vehicles plays a significant role to tackle drawbacks related to the environment like greenhouse emissions and global warming. In fact, the increase in the price of natural gas will reduce the reduction of using private transport.

Because of rising travel, people will decide to go by public transport instead of driving to work, thereby reducing emissions generated into the environment, which represents a beneficial impact on our habitats. The imposition of tax on domestic fuel produces additional revenue for the government budget, which helps the authorities to obtain more money to expend on environmental policies in the future. For instance, the use of the state budget for the reduction of fares for public transport like buses or trains considerably reduces the usage of private cars.

On the other hand, if only increasing fuel prices is of course not enough, more measures should be taken to help improve the environment. The governments should prompt increased use of renewable sources such as nuclear power, wind energy, and hydropower instead of fossil fuels. To achieve this success, the administration must decline the costs of renewable energy, encouraging inhabitants to switch from old energy consumption to that new power is sustainable and long-term development for our planet. In addition to policies the government published, people also need to strictly follow the imposed regulations and actively take action to safeguard the environment. For example, as a replacement for the use of disposable plastic products in the workplace, people can reuse recycled materials to contribute to reducing the amount of waste generated into the natural environment.

The imposition of taxes is extremely necessary to supply to address environmental problems. Besides, the government needs to take more measures in the short and long term to contribute to reducing the impact on the environment and people play a critical role in this process.
