Writing task 2

Using a computer every day can have more negative than positive effects on young children.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

It is true that using computers is the common trend of the young generation. While I understand that computer has become a vital part of our modern lives, I do believe that children more negatively affected by using it every day than positively.

On the one hand, there are some benefits for children to using computers every day can be taken into consideration. Firstly, it provides huge useful sources of information allowing young students to access for their study purposes. Secondly, it has revolutionized the way we connect and communicate with each other. For example, through some social websites such as email, facebook, and twitter, we can easily meet and make friends with people all over the world. Finally, children also benefit from computer usage in the classroom by learning basic skills and keyboarding that are essential for their future entering the workforce.

On the other hand, my opinion is that daily computer use may have a more negative influence on children. To begin with, this trend has a direct impact on their health. Getting obesity and short – sight is two noticed example for sitting in front of computers for long hours. Moreover, a large number of attractive online games exists on the Internet, so it will be a waste of time if children are addicted and spend most of their time playing them instead of doing exercises that lead to unexpected study results. Another reason is that children are relying too much on computers in finding the solution for any math problems and exercise, decreasing their activeness as well as their creativity.

In conclusion, while there are some advantages for daily computer use, I suppose that the drawbacks it has on children do outweigh the benefits
