Writing Task 2

Students at schools and universities learn far more from lessons with teachers than from other sources (such as the Internet and television). To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The 21st century has witnessed a vast development of Internet, which has become an essential part of our lives. Despite a strong influence of the Internet, some people argue that studying with the support of teachers is the best way of learning. In my point of view, this assertion is questionable, for it underestimates the benefits of the Internet.

In terms of the richness, time-effectiveness and speed of information, the Internet dominates individual teachers. To begin with, the Internet is an endless world of information, which can provide enough knowledge and data. This borderless network includes numerous websites, blogs, forums, which can record, describe, explain and illustrate any topics in any fields. For example, Wikipedia is one of the biggest encyclopedias, which its amount of information is far beyond the brain memory of the wisest human being. Additionally, the Internet can present the latest information. Within a few seconds, the news about international concerns, scientific breakthroughs, fluctuation of prices, and social affairs can be updated and shown online. Therefore, the students are able to catch up with the development of this ever-changing world. Finally, the cutting – edge technology assists effectively in searching information. For instance, with the help of the artificial intelligent integrated in Google‘s search engine, all the relevant contents, data, articles would be located, collected, filtered and displayed on the display in a blink of an eye by just a mouse click.

On the other hand, the importance of teachers in teaching children should not be overlooked, as there are more than just gaining information. Firstly, learning at school or universities is a two-way communication. According to feedback from students, a teacher can flexibly adjust the pace and means of teaching, quickly locate the mistakes among students as well as give explanations immediately. Furthermore, because of acquiring understanding of a student’s mentality, teachers can instruct, encourage him or her. In contrast, computers do not have emotion and thinking ability, so that fail to understand specific problems of student. Lastly, a teacher can also teach moral principles, by instilling right social values, ethics and law-abding consciousness into minds of children.

In conclusion, both Internet and teachers have special strength and weakness in education. While the enormous volume of information is an advantage of the Internet, on the mental level, a teacher can give more to students.

Could you pls correct my essay and give some feedbacks? thanks in advance
