The line graph illustrates the proportion of women as members of parliament in Germany, Italy, France, UK and Belgium between 2000 and 2012.
Overall, all the lines on the graph showed similar trends. They all increased over the period. Also, Italy had the highest percentage of female members of parliament.
The number of women became members of parliament in Germany and France both rose steadily. In Germany, the figure from about 33% in 2000 to 37% in 2012. The figure for France is lower, from exactly 25% in 2000 to around 32% in 2012. The proportion in Italy was more significant growth. It started with the second highest number on the graph in 2000 at 27%, then, the number of Italian women became members of government reached a peak to nealy 40%.
In 2000, Although the percentage of women as members of parliament in both the other two nations increased dramatically, they all were lower than that of France, at 17% and below 5% for Belgium and the UK in 2000, respectively. With the same starting value in 2000, more Belgian became members of parliament than England. However, in the end of the period in 2012, the female members of government in this both countries had the same proportion, at roughly 23%.
