Writing task 1: the line graph

The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature and make comparisons where relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.

The line graph illustrates the number of people aged 65 years old and over in three nations including the USA, Sweden, Japan from 1940 to 2040.

It is noticeable that the number of people aged 65 years old and over have increased in both three countries during the period research. Additionally, the percentage of the population in the USA, Sweden and went up from 1940 to at present, predicted the population in both countries will continuing increase in future.

In 1940, the proportion of inhabitants aged over 65 years old in Japan was the lowest, only at 5% of the total population, while the figure for Sweden and Japan were slightly higher, about 7%, and nearly 10% respectively.

In 1980, the population in Sweden had risen to 14%, there was an increase in the number of inhabitants in the USA, at 15%. By contrast, people who were in 65 years old in Japan has decreased to only at 3%.

In 2040, the inhabitants living in Japan in 65 years old were predicted that it will increase to 27% and become the highest figure in the line graph. While the number of people in the USA and Sweden will continuing to go up to 23% and 25% respectively.
