In Task 1, you should be more precise, and use numerical values or mathematical expressions wherever possible.: ...there was a decline in forested acreage in four of the continents, and an increase in two.

In 1990, Europe had (1990 is in the past. Use past tense.) the largest area of forests in the world with 989 million of hectares, compared to 946 million in South America. While there was a notable rise in the number of forests (The table does not show the numbers of forests.) in Europe, reaching 1001 million in 2005, South American forests shrank by 64 million from 1990 to 2005.

Vocabulary: Fluctuate

Fluctuate means a rather fast rise and fall relative to a trend line. You see fluctuation on a line graph. Fluctuations can be regular (cyclical) or random. Price fluctuation is very common in markets where buyers and sellers are arguing about final prices. Sometimes the buyer gets a good deal, and sometimes the seller does.
