Writing task 1 - Maps

The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The maps illustrate the transformation of an island under tourist facilities’ construction.

Overall, the island became more developed with less natural beauty but an extended residential area and more options for leisure activities.

The beach in the left of island became the swimming place. The natural beauty was still remained. A few trees were cut down in the centre of island to make way for accommodation. However new trees were planted in the right corner of the island. Many accommodations were built besides the trees, both in the left and the centre of island. There was a construction of a new pier in the middle of island. From the pier, people can approach the reception and restaurant by vehicle. However, there was only footpath for people to walk to their bungalow. Also, the beach can only be approached by walking.

The reception was built in the centre of the island, just a hundred meters from pier, restaurant and accommodation. There were nine bungalows in the middle of the island, more than that of the left (six).
