Overall, the tendacy of spending money for books which increased were similar in four countries but the amount of money that Gemans used was highest throughout 10 years.
In 1995, Germans expent 80 milions $ on books followed by Italy and France whose figures were 50 milions $ and 55 milions $. Only 30 milions $ was spent reading in Austria. Despite some fluctuations, no country had the amount of money higher than Germany that was 95 milions $ in 2005. France was still in the second position because its figure went up regularly and it was 65 milions $ in 2005.
There was a tremendous growth in expenditure on books in Austria. Finally, the amount of money was 63 milions $, similar to France in 2005. Because of the marked change, the figure of Italy became lowest, only reached to 60 milions $.
All the figures of spending money for books showed the enhancement of people’s knowledge and the awareness of importance in reading books."
