The line graph demonstrates the resemblance between US and China birth ratesduring the period from 1920 to 2000.

As an overall trend, the figures for fertility in both countries fluctuated over the time, reaching their tops in the 1950s and their bottoms in the 1940s

Going from 10 percent in 1920 to 15 percent in 1935, China birth rates saw a rapid drop to 5 percent in the 1940s. Then, there a was sharp increase in the fertility of China, reaching 20 percent in 1950. From 1950 to 2000, however, the figures declined significantly.
