The line chart provides information on the number of users of 5 different services of communication worldwide over the period from 1998 to 2008.

Generally, all services gained more popularity and especially, cellular phone service witnessed the fastest growth in the number of users over 10 years.

In 1998, landline service topped the list of most common services with about 15 out of 100 people, tripling cellular phone and internet services which were around 5 per 100 inhabitants. In the next decade, while the quantity of landline service experienced a stability, a steady increase was recorded by cellular phone between 1998 and 2004 before soaring to nearly 60 per 100 people in 2008. A similar trend was observed in internet service which rose approximately four-fold over this 10-year period.

Meanwhile, mobile and fixed broadband had yet to be introduced by 2002. Despite the figures of these services growth slightly to roughly 5 users per 100 inhabitants in the last period, there were still modest number of people using them.
