The diagram shows the using amount of spreads namely margarine, low fat & reduced spreads and butter from 1981 until 2007. Unit measured by grams.
Overall, can be identified that there’re remarkable changes between the consumption of the 19th and the recent years. From the 1981, only butter and margarine used as spreads, then they quickly descended throughout the time and passed by low fat & reduced type which was a new spread introduced at the year 1996. Eventually all types of spreads consumptions tend to go down.
Butter at 1981 considered as “dominant” which account for the highest rate of use and most-used was in 1986 which such an impressive consumption rate up to 160 grams (highest in the chart). Similarly, low fat & reduced spread had a high accelerated increase started from 1996 and peek-period was at 2001 then begin to descend slowly after.
Margarine throughout the years remain mostly the same using level and take the neutral role mainly from 1981 and then quickly dropped from 2001 to the lowest on 2007. Also, a uniqueness can be seen here that between the 1991-1996 time period, low fat & reduced spread consumption was on par.
