The first line graph compares the proportion of households with appliances run on electricity and how these rates changed in one country, while the second chart illustrates how many hours per week that its residents spent doing housework, namely washing clothes, preparing meals and cleaning from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, the percentages of vacuum cleaner and refrigerator increased, whereas the figure for washing machine saw a variation. It is noticeable that the number of hours for doing household chores per week fell gradually in the 99-year period.

As can be seen from the first chart, exactly 40% of washing machine was used in 1920. In the same year, the rates of vacuum cleaner was slightly lower, at around one third and the figure for refrigerator overtake vacuum cleaner as the primary appliances. Between 1920 and 2019, while there was a fluctuation in the proportion of washing machine although it always remained above 40%, both the percentage of refrigerator and vacuum cleaner climbed remarkably and reached the peak of 100% in the last 19 years.

Despite the growth in the rate of households with electrical appliances, there was a noticeable decrease in the amount of time were used for housework over the period shown. In the first 40-year period, the number of hours was significantly dropped 2.5 times (from 50% to 20%), which followed by a small decline by 10% between 1960 and 2019.
