Writing task 1: Actual test - 3/6/2017

The line graph compares the proportion of female taking part in parliament in five different European countries between 2000 and 2012.

Overall, there was a slight upward trend among three countries, followed by a dramatic increase in the UK. While Belgium seemed to drop gradually.

As can we see, the rate of German stood at around 34% in 2000. At the same time, the number of female members in Italy just accounted for 26%, but until 2012 it rose up to 40%. Although the starting point of France and Italy was similar, the percentage of women participating in France was lower than Italy's and it witnessed a slight growth to above 30% in 2012. About the Uk, the proportion of female parliaments experienced a significant rise to 24% in 2012 compared to four countries despite it just stood at under 5% in 2000. In contrast to the UK, the percentage of women in Belgium participating was higher than by 13%, after decreasing steadily to 24% which was the same point as the UK in 2012.
