Overall, it is clear that women in this country prefer to participate in sports rather than watch them (except for tennis). Another visible trend is that tennis is by far the most popular sport with this group.
The percentage of women playing athletics is a bit higher than those who watch it, at precisely 20% and approximately 15%, respectively. In addition, basketball sees the similar trend, compared to athletics. The figures are slightly over 20% for female basketball players and nearly 15% for those spectators. Similarly, women also enjoy participating in badminton, golf and horse riding and racing nearly three times as much as watching these sports.
As mentioned above, tennis is the most common sport with females aged 16-25. Also, this sport experiences a different trend from other types of sport. Particularly, it is the only sport that women prefer watching than playing. The figures for tennis are exactly 50% and 30%, respectively.
