The graph below shows the proportions of four different materials that were recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country.
The line graph demonstrates the percentages of four different recycled materials namely Paper & cardboard, Glass containers, Aluminum cans, and Plastic between 1982 and 2010 in an unnamed country.
Overall, it can be seen from the graph that the general trend was upward. All figures remained stable ranking during the period and witnessed a dramatic increase except for the Paper & cardboard.
Looking at the graph in more detail, the average recycling rate of Paper & cardboard increased significantly from 65% and peaked at 80% in 1990 while the proportion of recycled Glass containers witnessed a remarkable decrease to 40%. After increasing, Paper & cardboard sharply decreased to 70%, but it occupied the highest place compared to Glass containers recovered to 60% in 2010.
By contrast, Aluminum appeared on the chart in 1986 at 5% while Plastics were recycled by the unnamed country beginning in 1990 with approximately 3%. There was a large difference between each other as Aluminum witnessed a nine times rise throughout the period at 45%, but Plastics climbed up slowly and got approximately 8% at the end of the period.
