The first line chart illustrates data about the changes in the number of electrical devices which are used for doing housework, namely washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, while, the second line chart gives information about the number of hours per week expenditures on cleaning housework, over a ninety-nine period, between 1920 and 2019.
In general, what stands out from the first line chart is that, there were considerable upward trends in three electrical appliances. Another striking point is that, the washing machine accounted for the highest rate at the starting year of the period, after which, it was replaced by refrigerator and vacuum cleaner. If we look at the second line chart, the number of hours of housework saw a substantial fall over the surveyed period.
If we look at detail of the first line chart, the washing machine started at 40% in 1920. In the next 4 years, it fluctuated slightly between 60% and 70% before increasing slightly to nearly 80% in 2019. As regards refrigerator, it used only about 2% in 1920, but a dramatical growth to 100% after the next 3 years before remaining unchanged at 100% until 2019. If we look at vacuum cleaner, the trend was similar, it began at 30% in 1920, after which, this figure saw a enormous rise to 100% from 1920 to 2000 before remaining stayed until 2019.
In the second line chart, the number of hours housework per week decrease continually from 50 to 10 after 99 years.
