The bar chart illustrates the proportion of computer owners at different education levels in 2002 and 2010. Overall, it is clear that the higher the education level was, the higher the percentage of computer ownership was. Additionally, after 8 years, the rate of people who owned a computer experienced an upward trend for all education levels.
As can be seen from the graph, only over 10% of people without high school diploma owned a computer in 2002. This figure then increased almost 3.5 times in 2010, reaching around 42%. Similarly, in 2002, the percentages of high school graduates and college students who had a computer were 38% and 55% in turn, before rising tremendously to approximately 70% for the former and 85% for the latter 8 years later.
Regarding people with a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification, there was also a growth in the percentages of computer ownership after the eight-year period, rising from 70% to 90% and from 75% to just slightly above 90%, respectively.
