The table compares the proportion of consumer spending on different items in five countries namely Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey in the year 2002.

Overall, there was an appreciable gap between three groups in five countries in this 2002. Turning into detail, in all nations, the majority of expenditure was food/drinks/tobacco that is essential items for people's daily. In Turkey and Ireland, the percentages reached respectively 32,14% and 28,91%. The proportion of other countries was more than 15%. The second rank of spending was clothing/ footwear. The percentage of this group ranged from 5,4% to 9% which did not have a big gap between five countries. Last, leisure/ education was the smallest in spending between three groups. For example, in Spain, the number only reached 1,98% in 2002. Payments for leisure/education was slightly small because, in Europe, the government made allowance for the resident in this aspect.

In conclusion, the rank of consumer spending in 5 countries in 2002 was similar with each other.
