The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to 4 countries from 1990 to 2012. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the rate of Australian exports to Japan, the US, China and India between 1990 and 2012.

It is noticeable that while the proportions of Australian products exported to Japan and The US decreased, there was an overall increase in that to other countries. Additionally, the portion of exports Australia sold abroad to China witnessed the most substantial rise in 4 countries over the period shown.

In 1990, about 26% Australian products were exported to Japan, which was significantly higher than the figure for the US, at about 12%. Over the next ten years, the rate of Australian exports to Japan dropped considerably to 18% and continued falling slightly to hit the lowest point at 17% in the final year. Meanwhile, the proportion of Australian exports sold abroad to the US remained stable in the first ten years of the period. From 2000 onwards, the percentage of exports from Australia to The US declined dramatically to 5% before rising marginally by 2% in 2012.

Looking at the other countries, India imported only 1% of Australian products, which was lower than the figure for China, at 2%. Over the next 20 years, the portion of Australian exports to China went up rapidly to 25% in 2010 and kept on growing up to peak at 28% in 2012. Similarly, the rate of products sold abroad by Australia to India also increased significantly to 7% during the first 20 years before dipping moderately by 2% at the end of the period.
