Task 1: The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population 1950 to 2050.

The line graph illustrates the proportion of New Zealand population growth based on four different age groups between 1950 and 2050.

Overall, it is clear that 15-to 34-years old group accounted for the highest percentage over the period shown. The general trends in the percentage of people aged 15 to 34 and 0 to 14 were reduction. By contrast, the proportion of people who fell into 35 to 64 and over 65 age groups experienced the opposite trends.

In 1950, over 30% of New Zealand citizens belonged to a 15-to 34-years-old group, followed by 28% of people falling into the 0 to 14 age group. The percentage of people aged 35 to 64 was responsible for around 15% of the population in comparison with only 10% of people over 65.

From 1950 to 2050, the proportion of 15 to 34 aged group fluctuated before going down to under 30%. The figure for people aged 0 to 14 decreased significantly to 10%. The proportion of both 35-to 64-years-old and over 65 years old groups rose gradually to nearly 35% and 20% respectively.
