The line graph compares three different kinds of crimes such as burglary, car theft and robbery in the centre of Newport city between 2003 and 2012.

In 2003, the quantity of burglary crimes was highest, at nearly 3500 incidents, while there were around 2800 incidents of car theft. By contrast, only 600 incidents were involved in robbery. In 2008, the number of burglary crimes and robbery crimes reached their highest points, at just over 1000 incidents and 500 incidents respectively.

In 2012, the number of burglary crimes experienced a noticeable drop of roughly 2000 to around 1400 incidents during the research period, while the figure of robbery remained stable at more than 500 incidents. At the same time, after reaching the lowest point at 2000 incidents in 2006, the figure for car theft saw a slight rise to 2600 incidents.
