The line graph illustrates four sources used for generating electricity in France over a period of thirty-two years beginning with the year 1980.

It is noticeable that the general trends between four lines are different. Nuclear power was used the most for producing electricity while renewable energy was used the least over a period of time shown.

Although nuclear power saw a dramatic growth during thirty-two years, it started from a low point, at above 50 TW-h, compared to more than 100 TW-h of thermal source. However, French were using renewable energy the least by 1980, at slightly over 1 TW-h.

Since 1980, nuclear energy had been in a spectacular rise before mildly fluctuating at the end of 2010. At that time, renewable sources recovered to nearly 50 TW-h after it witnessed a marginal increase from 1980 to 2005 whereas the trends for hydroelectric source and thermal energy were opposite with a steady reduction before having respective figures of approximately 50 TW-h and nearly 50 TW-h by the end of 2010.
